Have You? Poem by empty shell

Have You?

Rating: 5.0

have you ever felt love?

not in your heart or head,
but with your hands.

tangible, malleable, electric.

the second it touches you, it owns you.
cuffed to a bench, you're finished.

so powerful, dominating.

grief fades in its presence.
it tears down walls.

leaves you vulnerable, defenceless, weak.

you know that it could destroy your world
yet its absence makes you ill.

you trust it inexplicably, without reason.

inner joy cannot be contained.
you will smile constantly.

cloud nine, top of the world

you have the overwhelming urge to run,
to throw it away.
it calls to you,
like fire calls a moth.

you cant help but touch it, hold it.

have you ever felt love?
