Have You Ever? Poem by Denn Meneses

Have You Ever?

Have you ever been lost inside yourself,
just drifting, not knowing
whether to sink or swim
in a quagmire of your own making?

Have you ever had a doubt
deep in your soul,
piercing your heart
out of control?

Have you ever been to a place like no other,
that tugs at your heartstrings
like an unforgotten lover?

Have you ever loved someone
it made you shiver,
tore down your defenses
in sweet surrender?

Have you ever laughed
like there’s no tomorrow,
spilled out your guts
breaking wind and sorrow?

Have you ever sat by the side of the road
in the middle of nowhere,
wondering what lies ahead
or if it will lead you somewhere?

Have you ever seen a vision so befuddling
it caught you breathless and forever sighing?
Have you ever touched a leaf, touched a pebble
touched a chord that let you tremble?

Have you ever gazed at the eyes of a child,
and saw your passion burning, growing wild?
Have you ever looked up to the heavens
on bended knees laid down your burdens?

Have you ever been to a rainbow’s end,
and followed a path with no bend?
Have you ever watched a flower bloom,
or found love at the dark side of the moon?

Have you ever told yourself
I don’t know where I’m going, but I’m on my way?
Don’t you hurry love, it’ll come to you someday?
What’s the use of dreaming, if you dream on your own?
When you're done deceiving, what the heck, you're alone!

It's all of our own making, all our have we ever - this life is for living, so let's leave out all of our have we, have we not, and get on with fulfilling each new day, filling it with grace and grandeur, peace and joy. This is agreat write - there are still things to do, and we can't do them all.
