Have You Ever Been To Mirboo North Poem by Francis Duggan

Have You Ever Been To Mirboo North

Have you ever been to Mirboo North where time it has all but stood still
And where progress it seems to have passed by that old country Town on the hill
A place that is free of pollution no factory smoke in the sky
The most of those who live in Mirboo will live there till the day they die.

Have you ever been to Mirboo North it's beautiful there in the Spring
When the sun on the old Town is shining and the nesting birds whistle and sing
And the fruit trees in the Town gardens blooming in their blossoms of pale pink and white
And the countryside is at it's greenest and beauty give rise to delight.

Suppose in life I have been lucky and I'm one of the lucky few
I've seen places of natural beauty and one of those is old Mirboo
That town in South Gippsland's high country from heaven's gate not far away
Like most of those who've been to Mirboo I've vowed to return there one day.

In Mirboo North a Town in South Gippsland a place that is pollution free
The butcherbird in the quiet parkland is piping on the wattle tree
I've been to places of great beauty and I've seen many a beautiful view
And I've seen the green hills of South Gippsland and been to the Town of Mirboo.
