He Does Seem Away With The Fairies Poem by Francis Duggan

He Does Seem Away With The Fairies

Rating: 5.0

He writes only of love and passion the fellow they call the love poet
But he seems away with the fairies and butterflies through his mind float
And I am rough around the edges a negative crusty old bloke
I have a few beers to be social though wizzy weed I do not smoke.

I'm not the one to criticize his verses as others to do that get paid
But some of those who know about love poetry kind words of his love poems have said
They tell him that they like his verses and his poems deserve to be read
And he who is easy to flatter has left their words go to his head.

But there's more to life than love and passion it is a tough World out there
And maybe for fresh inspiration our love poet ought to look elsewhere
There's people Homeless on the back streets and they sleep by factory doorways at night
And love is the last thing on their minds a poem about them he should write.

There's more to life than love and passion those two just a small part of life
The one who married for love only now sad to say the battered wife
By love the poor woman was blinded and her heart her head it did rule
For true love she married a bully and the bully to her he is cruel.

His poems are of love and love only though never of love's other side
And never of the disappointment when love in the heart it has died
He does seem away with the fairies and butterflies through his mind float
But he is a very nice fellow and he is a rather good poet.
