Headlights Poem by Ellie Foe

Headlights

A never-ending road,
passing trees and
grass freshly mowed.

A squirrel,
runs onto unknown.
Just a girl,
looking for a home.

She didn't know,
young and so innocent.
then the lights shown,
bright and maleficent.

What a poor friend,
left in the street.
Wound that won't mend.
treated like meat.

Poor animals weren't awake
so they didn't learn
from her terrible mistake.
