Heart Of A Free Man Poem by Ahmed Aedan

Heart Of A Free Man

You may take my heart away,
You may rip my limps apart,
And sever all that lives,
But it's not this day.
This day the sun had risen over the banks of all rivers,
This day I woke on a bed full of cherry blossoms and red roses,
This day I bid my mother greetings as meaningful as her blessed heart is.
Today I live as a free man,
And so I shall be tomorrow,
For everything I lost, wasn't meant forever,
I won't groan, I won't tear,
I will say: at least I'm still free.
