A heartbeat is more than words
The sound that echos
Speeds up and slows

Has been there forever
Not just around
But the endless beating
Of a forever sound

A single moment
It's been there for
Not just to have
But to hold

Through the scares and laughs
Through those moments you wanted to relive
Go back

A heartbeat is more than
a new life
A single motion that's saying,
'You are never alone'

Through the pain and abuse
It is there to follow
But it can be
The end of sorrow

A brand new child
Or a dying elder
Those who's lives
Has a beginning or end

The breath of a baby
The rasp of a cough
Begin and end with
A heartbeat

A single sound
A frozen moment
One we always
Want to relive
