Heat To Heart Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Heat To Heart

Heart to heart

"Let's take them"
He said, right index
Pointed; bird

Bird went out
(Leaving nest)

He stood bowl in hand
Went; came back
Bowl had eggs

One by one broke the shells

My jaw fell
Words died
Flew my soul

He, then stirred
Bird came back
Eggless nest

Pleaded she
Headed for me
Sat on bowl's edge

A beak for taste
Her look question
Comet, sharp, hot

A jump, landed
Birched on arm
I felt my hand

Set her on heart; heat on heart
Her beats were weak; whisper, speak
Metal shop mine, a stove, Sun

(Hussein told me)
