Heidelberg Poem by Mike Barrett

Heidelberg

Those
Poets
Who have
Acclaimed the
Ville of Heidelberg -
Would that their
Eyes have seen
The Laurentides
In the fall!

History
In so condensed
A form,
That
We do not have;
But
Beauty -
Raw naked beauty,
That we have!

And should
Their eyes have seen it
Would then their accolades
Have been as loud? As strong?

Heidelberg,
What right have you
To proclaim “Beauty”
Your sole mistress!
