Heinous Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Heinous

Heinous

I know me
“Unaware! ” as they say.
But heinous was a word.
I needed, serious, the other.

Thanks to God for IT.
I looked up:
Adjective, of person’s wrongful act.
“A crime”

Some years back, there was child
Took part in Afghan war.

There, US had attacked,
Using guns, bombs and tanks.
Killed thousands.
This is not heinous act.

When rounded in the net
One turned to be child.
He must have
Been scared, or afraid, or honest.
He confessed “I have killed a soldier”
“Serious; it’s heinous”
Crown shouts; says US.

God, save me, what is right?
(I am dumb.)

Killing one is heinous
But thousands, innocents,
Means being a hero; example.

To me that sounds utter
Odious and wicked.
The wording is evil, atrocious; monstrous.

I sure am grateful,
I am out of circle, which doubtless
Horrific, terrible, awful and abhorrent,
Means loathsome, hideous…and much worse.
