Helping Each Reader Dig Poem by Michael Walkerjohn

Helping Each Reader Dig

This 'gem', held within each human's heart
was once; and not so long ago
held in my own...
Wrought from silent wondering thought
as that thought each parent molds within
that silent prayer to you know whom...
For each healthy child, boy or girl
that they and theirs so dearly want...
But, not all are granted such the gift
of physical beauty borne; yes that is
each parents most profound wish...
Believe me when I mention this
most sad part of the human condition
especially within the hearts of females!
Who wants a lifetime of caring for
one crippled child? Hard to blame the
girls in this day and age! Ya read me?
Not to long ago, the human mothers
fed those unfit born... to the wolves!
NOW! I have all of the world's attention!
So... A few dozen generations past
all humans practiced infanticide.
No Biggie; yea he is dead... You humans
could not fix physical birth defects then
and guess what! Ya cannot heal more than
a handful to perfection now!
So please do tell me just exactly what
it is that you maggots feel makes you
so special to this Universe?
Is it humankind's most impressive
invention? Can't be anything else!
So! The flush toilet is it? True that!
Any and all things else came from that
"reverse engineering" of technologies
way beyond the comprehension of even
the brightest of...ists! And that ain't
saying a whole 'well' of a lot... Is It!
So why, pray tell me! Should me and the Missus
miss any of you?

FINIS!
