Her Tenderness, His Fright Poem by Dean Meredith

Her Tenderness, His Fright

She cut through
Like a broken harp
Most of the strings still playable

We were melancholic
And full of understanding
And overwhelmed with doubt

The laws saved him from her
And she from him
And vice-versa & so on

I'm not that, I never was
But you might be now
He knew he'd overlooked something

Like Johnny & June
In the early days
Knowing he had to submit

Her smile akin to dawn
His smile akin to hers
She settled him down
