Herself, Not Others. Poem by Jodie Louise Pollock

Herself, Not Others.

While other cast a glance,
She stops and stares,
She grabs the chance,
While others are too scared.

While others pause and think,
She takes time and remembers,
She forgets to blink,
While others look down in surrender.

While others might consider,
She acts upon things,
She doesn’t quiver,
While others pause their dreams.

While others might whisper,
She shouts it out loud,
She doesn’t stay sat in a corner,
While others get lost in the crowd.

While others hide their pain,
She lets the world know,
She knows people are different but the same,
While others are just too shallow.

While others become another society clone,
She is confident in herself,
She never has to be alone,
While others can’t even trust in themselves.
