His Empty Alibi Poem by James Devany

His Empty Alibi

She said,
Why does my skin open your mind to play heart?
The void citadel within her soul rings a single bell,
That echoes through decades of despair.
His dim impulse, in the navy sky, gave way
To an abhorrent alibi, in vain,
Within an overspoken,
Misunderstood,
Triad of utterance.
I
Love
You.
Such sent angels crashing from above,
Gave way to a demon's entry,
Such had emptied levees,
Devastated the broken,
Such ended with an embrace.
Such planted the charge,
On the sad soul's citadel,
A false illusion, as such a word,
Bellowed from mountains,
And screamed from streams,
May be thrown away.
Into desolate nothingness.
love.
