His Reward Poem by Bryan Taplits

His Reward

Never could I ever find you
Always would I search my best,
Remainders I would find-
Till I was out of my mind
And thought I had failed my charged test.
But then:
I finally found you
A lady who had nearly no flaws,
I saw you as bedight
One glorious night
A princess, my liege, I confess.
You looked and I saw in yours eyes
A tender and a yielding embrace
A look as only royalty looks-
Portrayed in top books-
I saw it confined in your face.
Decorum was all in your comportment
In your elegance a synonym was due,
But then was I taught-
I was staggered, for I learned there was naught-
As the loathing fired from your eyes:
'Oh, my good man! Am I sorry for you.'
