Historic Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Historic

Historic

As if Moon's reflection
-on the waves in a lake
-toss and turn in my bed;
-far from the sky, motionless.
-Conscious but not anxious
-lend ears and listen
-to wedding of Meghan…

Thoughts break entangle
-my plane is magic;
-some carpet.

Leave behind centuries
-on the boats and the dhows.
-See traps with guns and dynamites.
-Enslaved, in shackles, hunted, her ancestors!

In corner of my mind sit hunters; now-fallen,
-powerless, unable; pretend as jackals.
-Ex-prey is welcomed as bride, well-dressed.

Historic!
Historic!

Thoughts zigzag and take me to Dubai,
-I recall things happened in same way.

Historic!
Historic!

See Rashid and Zayed
-politics with its games;
-Iran is out of list; favours!
-Westerners keep coming,
-airplane takes place of camel.
-No more scattered are Arabs!
-Are now the Pinocchio, poison!

I can see the wedding of today resemble
-Al-Hamdan's, in Eighties; the Dubai's!
- (Left throne to be safe; unlike old brother!)
