Honeyed Dates And Wine Poem by Ruth L. Rivers

Honeyed Dates And Wine

Because it is really that simple
The vein in which it flows
Many words carried between us
And so all conversation goes

Easily playing with each
Syllables replaced in lines
Given and held to the soul
Offerings to the lips for thine

Lifted from gods own tongue
Ears shiver with delight
The air brushes in over
Filling sky's stars with life

Twin images are replaced
Both beat hearts as one
Love grown of the hours
Days fed on moons and suns

Nymphs grow grapes from wine
Zeus gives summon to age of old
Stars romance in the merry sites
For Aphrodite has laid her hold

Gifts of sweetest wine enjoyed
In the worlds of dust 'n clay
So builds our small cloud castle
With each honeyed word we say.
