Horizons Banality Poem by grace mariner

Horizons Banality

I still see you everywhere.
Like we were explorers who traveled the world together,
albeit a small piece of a very large world.
You are out there, in unexplored regions,
battling dragons on your own while I stayed behind,
not allowed to follow.
Forbidden by the demons of other lives lived.
You consume my everyday but like all who lose hope,
I search for you no longer on the horizon.
I see your image, hear your voice, dream of your touch
but have lost all hope of your return to me.
Did I mean that little to you when you meant
everything to me?
My mind knows the answer but my heart can't
bear to here it spoken out loud.

Well written, good poet. You communicated the sense of loss profoundly and vividly.
