Hospital Appointments Poem by Jonathan Goldman a.k.a JGthepoet

Hospital Appointments

Hospital Appointments ~ a necessity for me,
Every two months at Addenbrookes, my Neurologist I see,
For seven long years, tablets I’ve taken,
To keep my body working from the time I awaken.

Two watches I wear, with Timers, you see,
Lest I forget and immobile I be,
Viewed by some as eccentric ~ but no, I am not,
It would be bad, if my tablets I forgot.

My Life now governed by the Drugs that I take,
Missing, or duplicating them, would be a mistake,
I must listen to my Body, each and every day,
Whilst going to work, or out to play.

Activities of my Youth, are now not for me,
Sports and Pastimes, when from this I was free,
Myasthenia Gravis has curbed my Lifestyle,
But Poetry is a Gift, given me for a while.

I continue to write of the Days of My Life,
Whether they be happy or full of strife,
Why should I bother? ~ What good will it do?
Only to let others know ~ I am like you.
