How His Hair Is Growing Thin Poem by Michael Pruchnicki

How His Hair Is Growing Thin

(But how his arms and legs are thin!)

That is not what they meant at all
at least I don't think so
they're not malicious exactly
perhaps a bit meretricious
at times with their coy evasions

(But how the lamplight gleams!)

You think you know exactly what they mean
sometimes I think you do
they posture and primp
uttering veiled allusions
about things they can't put a name to
or won't because it might embarrass

(But how shabby his jacket is!)

Could you tell me what this poem means
by reading the title alone
without examining the verses
that followed?

(But how absurd his argument is!)
