How Much You Love Me Poem by Michael P. Johnson

How Much You Love Me

When first I saw Your lovely face
How much in joy I cried
Feeling the first sweet touch of grace
Feeling the leap inside

O sweet and tender God I AM
O Ancient One supreme
Your Light shone forth through Christ Your Lamb
Beyond my wildest dream

I’ve seen The Light The Truth is mine
My eyes are trained above
I’ve ate The Bread I’ve drank The Wine
Now help me walk in love

Support me in my plight my King
Assist me on The Way
Allow my song on eagle’s wing
Delight You night and day

Direct me Lord and hold me tight
Embrace with tender hand
Be with me through the vale of night
And help me understand

You’ve given faith and lavished hope
Your Holy Ghost’s my Guide
All this and more that I may cope
Through Jesus at my side

You saw my filth when running wild
You saw me drenched in shame
Yet cleansing me You’ve raised this child
To bear Your holy name

Lord how truly You must love me
My God! How much You care
So much You gave to set me free
Eternity to share
