How To Live Poem by Andy Barrette

How To Live

I suppose that I could write
on many things so bland and trite
but what I choose to write about
is what I try to live without:
Indecision, misdirection-leading me on paths unknown-
empty stress, useless regret,
and pity for good times now gone.
Too many times I have, myself,
been pushed away in rash mistake
by textbook love turned senseless vice
through leeching pain for which we slave.
Though now I have less left to give,
I've come away with how to live
and gained so much. All I can say
is that I've learned to seize to day.
