How To Teach A Human Being To Fly Poem by Alla Bozarth

How To Teach A Human Being To Fly

Let loose a thousand cranes
from the top of the tallest mountain.
Then follow them.
Send a thousand butterflies
skating over the treetops
and slender vines of a high rain forest.
Then follow them.
Let the wind lift you from one branch
to the next and float on a bed of leaves.
Bathe in the shimmering green.
Open your arms and keep turning.
Watch the colors of rain
as they swim through the sky.
Then follow them.
Keep your heart opening wide.
Release everything.
Be no longer carrying, but carried.
Tune yourself to the songs of the stars.
Then follow them.

It is easy. Easy.
It is the way to heaven.
