Human Life And Mine Poem by Dev Ashish

Human Life And Mine

Rating: 5.0

Get an education
Get a job and a girl
Marry her and love her
Dont forget about your parents
Take good care of them
Have a few kids
Raise them to be responsible
Make friends and keep them
Spread the love around
Forgive your enemies
Help the needful
Do the right thing
And be true to yourself
You have done your job
You can now rest in peace
Get a place in heaven for eternity

Is that all to a human life?
To be grateful for
What I have received
And pay it forward
With interests accrued
I wonder if I dont
Adhere to the social pattern
That is set in place
Live for myself
And walk away from everything
That I dont think I need
Doing what I feel is right
Judging by my own conscience
Answerable to none but self
For the actions of mine

Am I antisocial
or simply just selfish?
To think for the individual
And not for the society
A society of contradictions
Where truth is relative and subjective
A society of individuals
without room for individualism
A society of money
Dictating the morals and principles
A society so morally bankrupt
With conscience being optional
Why should I surrender myself
To such blasphemy and hypocrisy?

I can hear the society
Questioning and advising
Condemning and guiding
Waiting for me
To debate on my views
Justify, verify and judge
Dissecting my notions
Out loud for all to see
But you will find me quiet
Walking away like a coward
Crazy coward they call me
But the questions still remain
Eventually to be forgotten
But who am I to answer
The questions that trouble you
And your society that
I am not a part of
I answer to none but myself
To your questions and troubles
Look inside you not your society
And answer to yourself, not others.
