Humanity We Stumble Poem by Gordon D Wilkinson

Humanity We Stumble

Rating: 5.0

Moved to shed so many tears
One man’s hopes and fears
Fearing for the young
Apocalypse running hard slowly nears
The death knell of humanity has rung
Its final verses playing, all but sung
The outlook so bleak it leers
Back to Neanderthals caves
Prosperity with societies advances in graves
Hear the chimes through the wails
Crashing walls and pillars collapse
Under the weight of crucifixions nails
Caring runs away through the door
With its guard down, no mere lapse
No rudders of hope to steer anymore
Morality crumbles
Disillusionment grumbles
Searching for a solution
Deep into mankind’s dissolution
One ray of light
Hidden in the darkness, from sight
Covered in the cloak of greed
Along pathways we trip and stumble
Grabbing what we do not need
At the cloaks choking pin deft fingers fumble
From the dawn of humanity to night
