Humdrum Days Poem by Paul Reed

Humdrum Days

Give me some humdrum days
Where I can watch the time while away
Watch the river flow
It knows where to go
To the sea
Feel the breeze in my hair
And the day grow tired gradually
Without regret
The birdsong fill the morning
And the tide rise up the beach
Just out of reach
Let the days pace slacken
And the flood ease to a trickle
And sentiment so fickle
Get washed away
