Hurricane Blues Poem by Bill Simmons

Hurricane Blues

Rating: 5.0

Seventy five down the backside
Sixty five down the hill
Gotta keep this truck moving on
Gotta get back home still

Look at the mess we're in
Came that hurricane again
A hundred thousand moving up north
No gasoline my friend

Stick out your thumb alongside the road
The government will get you before you get old
Can't do a thing everything is closed
Help is on the way they say it's so

The hurricane winds blow
The government says go
Evacuate before to late
Get out now don't hesitate

Now just look at the mess we're in
Stuck along side the road
Help is on the way just sit and wait
The government will get you before you get old

Seventy five down the back side
Sixty five around that hill
Hurricane or not I'm taking the back roads
I'm gonna get home still.
