Hypocrites And Wingbeats Poem by R K Summers

Hypocrites And Wingbeats

“There is a War in Heaven”

The wingbeats of distant angels
Sound against the sky
Their war drums are thunderous
Never asking why

Their tears became the raindrops
Vice and virtue alike
The feathers fell like snowflakes
From one fatal strike

The lightening we see through ashen clouds
When angels take up arms
And clash their swords against the gates
Gregorian praise and charms

Be aware, sweet angels, beware
Do not lose thy grace
Do not fall as Lucifer fell
Gone without a trace

We are deafened by their screaming
And blinded by their war
Muted by their love for Him
The angels will fall far.
