Hyskos Poem by John Parsons

Hyskos

I was left for
Dead by you people
Why should I help you in your
Ambitious pursuit of

Everything you want?
All these years-
You wrote me off
As neurotic and useless.

You treated me as if my
Mind, the ruler of my tribe, was on vacation
Partying and getting wildly drunk in
Some Shangri-la. I will

Not be your
Shakespeare and Heredotus combined and intertwined.
My intellegence will not
Work to build your Pyramid.

I may be a Hebrew
But I am also a Hysko.
One day, one night, one night, one day
I shall conquer you.
