I read a poem by a poet that said
he heated up the handles of a pair of scissors
and watched while someone picked them up.

he was in love and this was a clumsy attempt,
in the way adolescent boys have, of getting
her way to notice him..

I bet every time she see the scars
standing out white upon her thumb and finger
she remembers him and not in a good way.
and I'll guarantee she will still be very bothered****
