I Am More Poem by Suzanne Hayasaki

I Am More

Don't underestimate me.
I am more than your eyes can see.
It is not my destiny
To complete some fantasy you have.

Don't think that you know me.
Don't apply your suppositions.
Don't assume I share your inhibitions.
Don't fit me into some pattern that suits you.

Don't bring your past.
Don't predict my future.
Don't bind me into some timeline.
I have my own designs.

Come to me with nothing.
Look upon me as a mystery.
Take my hand and let me lead
And maybe you will discover
Yourself.
