I Am Only A Moment Poem by Raymond J Wright

I Am Only A Moment

I am only a moment
a breath
a heartbeat
a flicker of warmth
from a candle on a sill

I am only a vision
a dream
a nightmare
a prophecy of this very minute

I am a rocket ship
I am a shooting star
I am but a broken thing
searching for a light

I am a shadow of your dreams
flowing through the summer night
a silhouette, a dusky demon
an angel in disguise

I am only a moment
in the life that you live
only a phantom,
an apparition
in your room at night

refute me, deny me,
dispel me at will
