I Can Poem by Phil Soar

I Can

I can hear the voices in the street
They're louder now, cos we can't meet
So people shout across the street
Voices, voices, in the street

I can smell the meals that neighbours cook
From a Gordon Ramsay book
Mixed ingredients fried or stewed
Served without Gordon being rude

I can see the way people come together
It's helped that we have sunny weather
And it lifts the spirits and calms the mind
With all the people being kind

I can listen to music, play it loud
From my PC or the internet cloud
And the rythm and melody suits my style
As I close my eyes and dream a while

I can cast my mind to happier times
Sitting alone and writing rhymes
And hoping quite soon we all will be
Free of the viral monstronsity
