The rain came early that year,
bringing with it relief and release,
and the crowds ran for cover,
rain carrying into ev'ry nook and corner,
egged on by the relentless breeze
I had been lucky,
slipping into a cafe,
when the sky bellowed,
and waited, sipping coffee,
till the tempest mellowed
Wet and in disarray,
you needed rescuing,
you needed..coffee,
and my offer to share the table,
now part of our folklore and fable
You Smile, talk, sit, drink
I smile, talk, sit, think,
snippets of conversation
still come to my mind,
some memories we left far behind
It wasn't the loveliest settings,
yet made special by your elegance,
and our first meeting,
by chance, destiny profound,
has its own relevance
After more meetings,
more coffee..seems strange
we couldnt wait,
to set the date,
and a small reception was arranged
Today, back here again, after a lifetime
Of love, laughter,2 little dividends,
and more cups of coffee,
either, You retain your innocence,
Or, you still love me being rescued by me
