I Did Not Ask Poem by cassie slaughter

I Did Not Ask

I did not ask for a life of pain
I did not ask for a life full of shame
I did not ask to be abused growing up
I did not ask for this dead girl to show up
I did not ask to start hearing my abusers voice
I don't think I really had a choice
But I'm glad I was given this life
Because had I not been put through all the strife
I don't think I would have let God into my life
So that he could lead me to this free and wonderful place
