I Don't Know Why Poem by Raymond Farrell

I Don't Know Why

I don't know why
Anyone would want to die
For queen or country
While the outcome of war
Is decided before
In the board rooms of banks.

Who in their right mind
Can ever hope to find
A reason for murdering
Someone he never knew
Whatever we must do
Let us be sane.

Let us rise, you and I
For one more little try
To show the whole wide world
In the great out there
That a couple of people care
About tomorrow.
