I Go For Ice Cream (Inspired By And Apologies To Billy Joel) Poem by Mark Money

I Go For Ice Cream (Inspired By And Apologies To Billy Joel)

Call me a glutton, call me a toad
Right at this moment, I'd eat Rocky Road.
Covered with hot fudge, cherries and such
I feel like I may have eaten too much.
I get a headache if I eat too fast
I don't know how long this gallon will last
Maybe it won't last the night.

Darling, I don't know why I go for ice cream.
Too hard or too cold, I'll lick the carton clean.
At Baskin-Robbins, I cry; 31 flavors to try
Darling, I don't know why I go for ice cream.

Sometimes I'm hungry, sometimes I'm not
Sometimes I don't care how much fat it's got.
Maybe I'm headed out to the store
I'll come back soon with a gallon or four.
Tell me how much do you think you can eat
I am the champ; I don't like to get beat
Boy, I can sure pack it in.

Darling, I don't know why I go for ice cream.
Too hard or too cold, I'll lick the carton clean.
And if I don't get enough, I just might start to get rough
Darling, I don't know why I go for ice cream.

Tried Ben and Jerry's; tried Haagen Dazs
Eating a quart at a time.
Just put a spoon in my hand and I'm perfectly fine
Sometimes I lie awake, thinking of Breyer's
Until I'm ready to scream
Pulling my hair out; wanting to eat
Why do I go for ice cream?

Darling, I don't know why I go for ice cream.
Too hard or too cold, I'll lick the carton clean.
I just can't stop with one bite- I will be eating all night
Darling, I don't know why I go for ice cream.

No, I don't know why I go for ice cream.
Too hard or too cold, I'll lick the carton clean.
You can be sure when I'm through, there will be none left for you
Darling, I don't know why I go for ice cream.
