I Hate Pay Day! (Re-Up) Poem by Blessing Kalamatila

I Hate Pay Day! (Re-Up)

I Hate pay Day!
Don't get me wrong I am grateful for this Job,
In fact, I count myself lucky exchanging my time and energy for a guaranteed wage
-yet it puts me in a rage, knowing I have to keep fighting these debts
I mean I can't even remember the last time I took my lady out on a decent date.

I Hate pay day!
See to me this day is more of a struggle than it is freedom
And it's hard to say this but some friends I'd gladly flee from
Because the only time they ever have something positive to say
-is when they aid my account in a negative way

I Hate pay day!
I mean to my advice they suddenly become observant,
When they begin replacing my name with 'Boss'
-forgetting that I am just a civil servant,
-without sufficient grease for your beef to roast.

I Hate pay day!
Because out of all the hard work and dedication
All I get in return from these people is false affection.

I Hate pay day!
Because when the account dims, I am left alone to starve
I don't understand the expectations many people seem to have.
How they want to cut my cheese in fewer halves
Am not saying we cannot share the crumbs
But just don't feel entitled when the money comes.
