I Just Laugh Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

I Just Laugh

I just laugh

The news of these days
Even my own poem
Are cliché, worthless!

Let us check the old days
And depths of yester-years…

In Lima, went to church
It is named after Saint,
As it is everywhere:
"Francisco…"

Underneath the floor
And inside some of walls
Lot of bones have been found
Of infants, children…

Then, Pope and his people
Found it right and correct,
So, said: "For Jesus sake! "

I rather be faithless
Such a God is shameless
Though I loved him, always
Went to him at bedtime
And begged him to reply.

When lying on my back
Useless, worn, like a rag,
Now, invite spirits
Both alive and deceased
Of man and animals...

Keep being student,
My questions are endless:
"Tell me of history
And the things you have seen
And the faiths and beliefs
And if the God exists
And about prophets
And of those with power…"

I smiled when heard one
Had kind face and advised,
Later, laughed quite loud…

"Put the thumb of left hand
In the palm of right one,
Squeeze and twist…"

I did and heard the rest
Shouting to encourage
My craze, wilderness,
And I went far, further!

Misplaced from joint,
And broke a thumb-bone
Then felt pain in the nail,
Life became miserable!

Spirits were watching
And one was questioning:
"Did you get your answer? "

I faced that oracle,
Showed I needed help,
My bowing meant praise
But in heart and silent!

The ceiling's screen
Was bright with painting
And the words of wisdom
In the shapes of poems
That had rhyme, line-breaks…

Yes, painful was the life
We conversed in concise
And I rolling and I tossed
Wishing for end to come.

Saw writings on the walls:
"People are entwined,
Old and young, husband, wife,
Look at your thumb and palm…"
