I Love The Poem And The Poet Equally Poem by Hebert Logerie

I Love The Poem And The Poet Equally

I regularly read the poem first
Before I enquire about the Poet
Because I don't like to be biased.
I do not prejudge like a faux prophet.
I read the poem first thoroughly
May be twice, thrice or infinitesimally.
You know what I mean. I analyze every word
And every blank, then I inquire about the lord
Who penned the marvelous masterpiece.
After such a visual surgery, then I find my eternal peace.

A poem is not magnificent because it was written
By a famous or an egregious scribe. I'm perpetually athirst
To read the poem wholly, in its entirety first
Then I give a darn about the special one
Who penned it with pain, chagrin, glee or bravery
Then I give a heck about the literary baron
Who painted the latent emotions with absolute accuracy.
Dear readers, I love the poem and the poet equally.
I love the words, the styles, the scent and the sheer beauty.
