I Lover With Epilepsy Poem by Bradford Poet

I Lover With Epilepsy

How would you feel in the middle of the night,
If the one you loved,
Woke screaming,
Panic covering there eyes,
Jumping up no time to loose,
Swiping her magnet,
Hoping you made it in time,
You maybe frightened,
But you must stay calm,
Holding her close,
Wiping her head,
Rubbing her back,
Slowly watching as they slowly drift back,

Moments like these just show the extreme,
Of this condition been such a threat,
Let me tell you,
I will never forget,
In fact I'll be honest,
Ill treasure them for life,
From waking to sleeping,
This condition could change,
The vacant stares,
Could happen at any,
Point of the day,
Her rage and temper could be the same,
Like myself It could,
Take a very violent change,
Sometimes we could handle it,
It would pass with a flicker,
But been out and about,
That was something,
But if couldn't Bare,
Or couldn't show the proper care,
Id walk away before you do more harm,
Because with this condition,
It takes dedication and patience,
With a very strong mind,
Because in this life she was always at harm,
Walking shopping anxiety could attack,
Vacant stares means you always need to,
Be ready to pull her back,
The heat can defeat,
Deplete all the energy she needs,
So shade and water are the best,
But this was our problem,
We choose lager instead,
A mistake it was,
But we kept it at a limit,
We would walk and drink,
Opening up,
About the past events concerns,
It was great,
But sometimes they came problems,
When sleeping and skipping meds,
We were risking her life,
And the were so cruel,
You always new,
When one was due,

Holding her tight,
Watching her lips turn blue,
Shaking uncontrollable,
Then been unable to move,
Energy non existent,
Eyes completely shut,
Wiping her face,
Squeezing saying,
Come on baby we can do this,
Please don't give up,
Every time I think back to that moment,
My eyes tear up,
All those times I laid her on her side,
Morning night she had all my time,
Jobs came and went but i made it clear,
That if they don't understand,
Well there just a dead end,
Because whilst in my care,
There was never no mistake,
I was never going anywhere,
I was going to stay there there,
For as long as it would take,
I would sit up until she came round,
Good food coffee plenty of rest,
My full love and tucked up in bed,

I kept a dairy of her seizures,
Her vacant the lot,
There was never any detail forgotten,
Id write everything from start to stop,
Sometimes they were single,
But others they were multiple,
One after another,
If she had any injures,
Id be the doctor,
Bandaging cleaning making sure she was safe.
