I Remember Poem by Bahaa Essed

I Remember

I remember, on a dead cold day in December
Eyes have met, feelings were tender
I didn’t know your name, but you told me I know you well
I asked you where do you live, you promised that one day you’ll tell
Years have passed and I wonder if you are… still the same
And more Years have passed, so many failed experiences I’ve had
Times pass, and I still am the same man; gone from worst to bad
Things have been kinda good lately, but that feeling of meeting you is never achieved
All the girls and women I knew told me they loved me, not really… they’re nothing compared to your love that I received
Wonder if we get a second chance to meet each other again, like winter 2003
If I had that same chance again, I would’ve hold you and keep you warm; safe in my arms and I won’t let you go like before, cuz you are… still an important part of me
Silence among loved ones is a true blessing, hearts speak true feelings and lips will say no more, as our spirits will go the distance to be wild and free
I really wished that one day; I get to say your name with the brightest smile on my face
I really wished that we get to have the best of all dates in our favorite beautiful place
But all that is left, is a beautiful memory, a sweet voice saying my name; signed in my heart as a loved one I can not replace
I will remember you, even if I don’t know your name or even what kind of a woman that you are
You may be the closest one I’ve ever been in love with, but I know you still hear from me… and I know that if you’re not here; you’ll shine inside of me as a far away bright star
