I See Everything (To The Girl In The Mirror) Poem by Lora Cooley

I See Everything (To The Girl In The Mirror)

I see faces; confident and calm
Part eulogy and part poem
Her warmth and smile kept from so long ago
She is furious but resilient
Violent, but keeps on smiling
It's hard sometimes
There's a suffering when I look in her eyes
We've been through so much
Standing face to face with death
It's easy to find people who have suffered worse
'Like Jesus suffered worse than anyone when God abandoned him.'
Set free from the torture
She said 'I SEE EVERYTHING'
And I will never forget her
No, I will never forget you
I am empty of comfort
I see nothing at all
My eyes are closed
