I Should Have Allowed Us To Take A Tango Poem by Ernest Hazvi Maengamhuru

I Should Have Allowed Us To Take A Tango

I should have allowed us to take a tango
But I harkened to the precept
And I hold this vow- of significant value
…but now you say goodbye.
I should have come to watch you go
But it makes me weak and bare in so many ways
Remember then, when you settle in that sea so far away
that it broke my spirit when you said farewell.
You could have seen my vigorous waving of goodbyes
but my hands were chained and my feet grew cold.
