I Want To Be An Ant Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

I Want To Be An Ant

For a long-long time; so very long that I cannot recall
I have wanted to be an ant
Many asked me; and ask:

Why?

Maybe so because ants are smallest creatures around!
Maybe so because they are hopeful workers or smart!
Maybe so because that’s the apparently harmless one!
Frankly I do not exactly know why! ! !
But I confess and for sure I know one thing:
“I am in love with ants; caring-less of name”
They can be male, female, labor; and queen
Yes even fire ant
Even fire-ant
Fire-ant
Ant

I recall that I wanted to be a Sufi and joined the cast
I lived with some of them for long time; their shrine
And at the end, unable and with no guts; had to stop
I had to take my cloaks off and wear theirs; feathers
I had to grow wings that would powerfully go away
Make the no-oneness, to nothingness, to selflessness
In me like a Hippy
Hell with others
Be happy you
Shed self
Be Sufi
Sufi

I want to grow my hair and beard to look wild; Tarzan
I want to beat on my chest; free, a silver-back guerrilla
I want to take my clothes off; become monstrous wild
I want to be anything; everything but- a man, civilized
I want to leave my skin empty; salted for shoe, or pipe
I want to … resident …
I want to … reside..
