Ice Queen Poem by Jeffrey Obomeghie

Ice Queen

Rating: 5.0

My ice queen

Your beauty cut me like a knife
left me wounded
Howling in blissful agony like a wolf
Bleeding drops of poetry

I lived in your mansion of smoke and dust
Before the wind came to visit
And blew everything away

I did not fear your words
What I dreaded was your silence
And what I carried was the eternal fear
That you would tell me to put down the cross
that I had borne for you for so long

My ice queen
Your love left me maimed
Limping like a lost hound at a snow-covered train station
Moaning at passengers
Begging for grace, approval, and crumbs
A violinist who could no longer hear
An emperor of a kingdom of bones and ash

My ice queen
