Icebergs Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Icebergs

There’s more to man than meets the eye
So much, he tries to hide
Yet all is known to God on high
Who sees the heart inside

The iceberg tip, is all we see
Yet far beneath behold
It too hides much within the sea
In waters deep and cold

Regal; it seems of liquid light
As though to have no fault
Richly adorned in robes of white
Fresh water, steeped in salt

Are you as cold beneath my friend?
Yet speak as though you’re hot
Like Pharisees; you just pretend –Mt.23: 13
Though know in truth you’re not

So cold, you try to fool the church
Too cold, to bend the knee
But Jesus’ Ghost one day will search
Beneath your frozen sea

How far are we prepared to go?
How deep, must first we sink?
We need the Flame of God to glow
We need to stop and think

We need to rise from neath the waves
Allow our depths be seen
Tell all the world that Jesus saves
Through waters, fresh and clean

We are; the water Jesus calls
The iceberg in His hand
In Christ we’ll turn to waterfalls
And flood the Promised Land…
