If I Am What I Am, Poem by Dr John Celes

If I Am What I Am,

If I am what I am,
'Tis all by grace of God;
I had a role to play;
God's blessings came my way.

If I am what I am,
My parents good were cause;
They slogged and prayed a lot;
Kept me unbroken a pot.

If I am what I am,
Help came from friends timely;
My success wasn't just mine;
'Tis was by Hand divine.

If I am what I am,
My neighbors had a role;
God sent some strangers too;
If not, what could I do?

If I am what I am,
I couldn't make it alone;
God laid the path for me;
I walked quite righteously.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

the poor and downtrodden are in the lap of mother Nature and contented beyond words and God heeds their pleas with great interest. Moreover, their road to heaven seems shorter and straighter.they are thus luckier this way

I am quite inquisitive Dr.Celes; Are the suffering people not blessed by the grace of God and their parents are not generous and pious? Though I can understand the meaning of the poem, the tone of it has made me to ask you this question. Anyway thank you for sharing your lovely thought about the Gods..
