If I Could Have You Close Poem by stephen roe

If I Could Have You Close

If I could have you close, feel you close to me
My arm around your waist,
Just for something chaste
Like a kiss,
But full on your lips.
All the time.
All the while.

If I could hold you close, asleep on my breast
Keep my dreams of you
Close to your chest.
If I could,
I’d be able to sleep
I’d be able to rest,
Sleep deep with you.

If I could see you slowly undress,
Your curves by my eyes
Lovingly caressed.
My breathing slowing
As finally the dress drops,
To the floor,
To a stop.

If I could press your hand, your hand
Against my heart
Make it start,
Sing like a lark.
Just you and me sending out sparks,
Grinding against each other,
Against the dark.

That poem is your best poem I think.
