If I Knew The Name Poem by noel maddock

If I Knew The Name

If I knew the name for you
I’d google it
If I knew the words for you
I’d rehearse them smooth
If I knew what you wanted
I’d take a Herculanean cruise
Barter a soul or two
Break a bone or two

Swallow me whole
Or in bite sized pieces
Let me nourish you
Take this cloak of care and kindness
Wear it as a healing gown
Can you see this uber me
My rubber band sincerity?
Can you trust my passion’s curve?

How I really love you in these words
In the space between there’s a hunkering doubt
Fuelled by past records and present word of mouth
But I’m not colour blind or biased
Grey love is still love
